September 2026 | Tire Industry Update

Global tire manufacturers are facing increasing cost pressure as key raw materials continue to rise in the Chinese market.

In early September, the benchmark price of natural rubber reached RMB 18,791.67/ton, approximately 14% higher than the beginning of 2026. Compared with the beginning of August, natural rubber prices also increased by around 8.95%.

Other major tire materials have also recorded significant increases. Compared with early August, STR20 mixed rubber increased by 8.75%, SBR 1502 by 16.67%, BR9000 by 20.65%, and carbon black N330 by 16.89%. As a result, the production cost of an all-steel truck tire reached approximately RMB 984.97 per tire on September 3, up 9.21% month-on-month and 13.87% year-on-year.

These increases are already being reflected in tire prices. Since late August, more than 20 tire manufacturers in China have announced price adjustments, with mainstream TBR and all-steel tire prices increasing by approximately 2%–3%.

For international buyers, this means that current tire quotations are facing continued cost pressure. Although manufacturers are absorbing part of the raw-material increases internally, further increases in rubber, synthetic rubber and carbon black prices may lead to additional adjustments in export tire prices.

For long-term customers, placing orders earlier and confirming prices within a defined quotation period can help reduce the impact of continued raw-material price fluctuations.
